Safety tips for buying, selling and renting property
Property is a big purchase. Homtiq is only an advertising platform and is not part of any deal, so please protect yourself.
If you are buying or renting
- Visit the property in person, or send a trusted relative or lawyer if you live abroad.
- Check the ownership papers with the relevant land record authority before paying anything.
- Meet the owner or dealer face to face. Be careful with anyone who refuses to meet or only wants to chat.
- Do not send token money, advance or commission to a stranger before you have seen the property and its papers.
- If a price looks far below the market, ask why. Very cheap offers are a common sign of fraud.
- For rent, get a written agreement and keep receipts.
If you are selling or renting out
- Post real photos of your own property, and mark the ad Sold or Rented when the deal is done.
- Do not put your CNIC, bank details or private documents in an ad or photo.
- Never share a one-time code or password with a buyer or with anyone claiming to be Homtiq.
